If you love to see flowers and have no time to weed seed or water Artist miChelle M. Vara from Ballard Road Art Studio Gallery has got the perfect solution. miChelle has created giant tulips with bee’s to join in color with Albany Spring Tulip Fest fun. The tulip sculptures are better than 6’ and made with re-purposed metals, garden tools, finished in vibrant color and can be displayed outdoors.

The work is on display for the festival….

This artist exploration came in to being when the storm Sandy hit the coast of New Jersey and my home town Ortley Beach got wiped off the map! The tragic loss of friends’, homes, lively hoods and businesses, began my trip down memory lane.

These events made me think and connect to so many childhood formative experiences. This stimulated the newly created series of paintings and sculpture in retrospective to a people, lifestyle of the beach, ocean and boardwalk.

The story or line of thought for this piece-
11 years ago my father passed away. His last request was that we as a family make our last trek down the seacoast stopping at all the beaches, light houses, boardwalks and seaside communities, just as we did each year as children when my parents’ beach businesses season closed.
This trip not only ended up being emotional but magical-!
The bottle contents were acquired throughout the trip. The contents carry memories, emotion, and spirit. I assembled and chose them through meditation and chanting prayer. the upward piece is kinetic and moves.

the series has 7 completed pieces and 5 in the works I will post pictures as I go so please stop back. Thanks

The space overlooking the water has good coffee with deep and smooth flavor for us coffee hounds, but also lends its self-atmosphere for art to engage and expose good conversation in a free environment outside the gallery or museum.

And if you’re out cruz’in for the day there’s also General Knox and the Train of Artillery sculpture stop on Rt 4 headed towards Gansevoort NY to stop and see.

Waking in the morning,
I saw a rose in my vase,
and wondered-
in the cycle of ages,
what force brought it to this peak of beauty,
side- stepping pit of imperfection?
Was it blind, forgetful, like the ones who renounce the world,
not distinguishing beauty from ugliness?
Was it strictly logical? Material?
Nothing of spirit?
Some argue that in the congress of creation
beauty and ugliness sit equally.
Neither is kept out.
I am a poet- I won’t take sides.
I see the world whole,
the billions of planets and stars in the sky
balancing the vast beauty.
Their rhythms are not tripped, their songs are not chocked.
Distortions cause no lapses.
In the sky I see layer upon layer, petals spreading
a luminous, vast rose.

I just completed a series about ego, agitated by the political agendas of people who appear to have no interest in the children and community’s their decisions impact. I have also been working on visual dialog about greed. The 2 topics can probably provide life time of visual statements for more than one artist.- I guess time will tell!

I believe there are enough resources for all people to live and eat well. I believe if we do for each other we as a team are stronger and happier than an individual alone. Yes- I believe in community as a family!

“Be the change want to see”- Mahatma Gandhi

“The key to change is to let go of Fear” – “Fear of the people, rich or poor”

He is intended for exterior display and can (by clients choice) hold a lantern (electric) and or a mailbox. Then again he can just be enjoyed as a sculpture with no lantern and no mailbox- straight personality.

TROY — If you are upset none of the New York football teams are in Super Bowl 47, or you don’t care for either of the teams, or you simply couldn’t care less about football at all, then the Charles F. Lucas Confectionery & Wine Bar on Second Street has an alternative.

The “Anti-Super Bowl Party” will be held at the wine bar where people can enjoy not only wine, cheese and beer but also a half-time art show.

According to a press release, the party will feature metal sculptures made out of found materials and created by metal sculptor Michelle M. Vara, of the Ballard Road Art Studio Gallery in Wilton.

On display will be Laissez-fair #344, aptly-nicknamed “Couch Potato,” as it is a piece made out of parts from a tiny television.

Co-owners Vic Christopher and his wife Heather La Vine had both worked in the sports industry — they were with the Tri-City Valley Cats until they were fired because of their relationship — but he said he now realizes sports aren’t all that important.

“I worked in professional sports for a decade. It took me that long to realize that a game has no direct impact on my life,” Christopher said in the release. “Wine and Cheese get me more excited than watching some guy throw a ball around the grass.”

But the real purpose of the party, at least for La Vine, is to get away from the television screen and interact with human beings.

It also helps the bar doesn’t have a television in sight.

“We spend too much time looking at a screen and not enough time looking at each other,” La Vine said in the release. “At the Confectionery we encourage conversation between friends old and new.”

The event will run from noon till 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Andrew Beam may also be reached at 270-1294.

Rabindranath’s writings – Book: Final Poems
Were translated into English by Wendy Barker & Saranindrath Tagore.

I found this so stimulating to think on-
The first intimation of this profound philosophical change in Rabindranath’s thinking can be traced to On My Birthday 20; here, he creates a remarkable image of language in process of losing its power of signification and sharply criticizes the view that language can uncover the nature of Being:

# 350 Intimation
Metal sculpture detail.

Today I imagine the words of countless
Languages to be suddenly fetterless-
After long incarceration
In the fortress of grammar, suddenly up in rebellion.
Maddened by stamp-stamping
Of unmitigated regimented drilling.
They have jumped the constrains of sentence
To seek free expression in a world rid of intelligence,
Snapping the chains of sense in sarcasm
And ridicule of literary decorum.
